Veil of Lies is a cyberpunk AVN with decent production values and a premise that promises intrigue, but it arrives in a genuinely broken state. Multiple show-stopping bugs—missing assets, untranslatable Portuguese text, corrupted save systems, and crashes at key story beats—make it difficult to finish even the prologue without manual fixes or restarting. The build's Ren'Py implementation is fundamentally flawed: saves don't persist to the standard folder, there's no rollback or error-ignore function, and the engine forgets seen content on skip, crippling quality of life. Beyond the technical disasters, the creative direction is confused: the marketing promises "choices that shape destiny," but it's tagged kinetic with virtually no real branching, and the narrative is overwhelmed by graphic sex scenes that steamroll any attempt at story or character immersion. The few players who pushed through chapter 1 noted improved renders but found the relentless, logic-defying pornography and forced multi-person scenes made the experience feel more like parody than gripping drama. For those who simply want explicit content, the volume is there; for those hoping for an actual visual novel underneath, this needs both a complete technical overhaul and a serious rethink of pacing and consent.
