Editorial Worth it
Petulantia is a sci-fi comedy visual novel with AI-generated visuals and a deliberate, character-driven story. The game has found its audience: players appreciate the humor, the worldbuilding, and the developer's willingness to tell the story he wants rather than chase every complaint. The visuals are attractive, and the writing lands well for those who enjoy the tone. However, the game has a serious content-expectation problem. Multiple players report that Act 1 includes non-consensual sexual scenes—specifically, two love interests being assaulted—that are neither tagged as NTR, rape, or non-con, nor optional. The developer acknowledges this was intentional (to show villain cruelty) and has promised alternative paths, but the current build misleads players. For those who enjoy story-driven VNs with adult content and can accept the game's deliberate pacing (sex scenes occur when narratively appropriate, not on demand), Petulantia delivers. For those seeking a harem game without forced sexual violence, the missing content warnings make it a poor fit. The recent v1.0 release is stable with only minor, isolated errors.
