Editorial Don't bother
Vampire Contracts arrives as an ambitious vampire-romance visual novel with a solid artistic foundation, but the prologue reveals serious structural problems that undermine its potential. The core issues are relentless: the narrative jumps erratically across years with no clear timeline (5 years to 10 years to days, contradicting itself repeatedly), character motivations collapse under scrutiny (the MC claims indifference to love interests, then suddenly loves them after unexplained time skips), and choices feel meaningless—most branches lead to identical outcomes, draining any sense of agency. Writing quality is rough, with stiff dialogue, grammatical errors, and inconsistent character names (Bella/Beth). The MC's characterization falters: an 80-year-old pure-blood vampire attends school like a teenager with no credible explanation, and his relationship arcs lack the emotional groundwork needed to land. On top of narrative chaos, the game skips its own sex scene (the morning-after conversation appears instead), which baffles players in an adult game explicitly built around romance routes. The renders and character designs are attractive, and the vampire-school setting has promise, but execution is severely hampered. Community opinion is nearly uniform: the game needed another draft cycle before release. One bright spot—a few players found the premise intriguing enough to hope for serious rework—but most see abandonment as likely given the developer's track record with previous projects.
