Editorial Worth it
Eclipsis is a polished first release with lively characters and solid writing that has earned genuine praise for its high-quality visuals and anime-styled character work. However, it divides its audience sharply: players expecting harem routes, the ability to rename the MC, or access to standard Ren'Py features (skip, text speed adjustment) are frustrated by deliberate omissions that feel needlessly restrictive. The "Temptations" system—which penalizes players for viewing scenes with characters other than their chosen love interest—also rankles those seeking traditional adult VN freedoms. For players who accept the game on its own terms (linear story, fixed MC name, cinematic-mode presentation), it delivers engaging narrative and attractive character design. For others, these are dealbreakers.
