ToxiCity

TOXICity is a character-focused narrative-driven game about two coworkers, John and Kallie, who witness an unusual fog engulfing their office during the workday. Communication with the outside world is cut off, and the toxic fog burns exposed skin and causes illness. Stranded and forced to investigate, they must uncover what's happening and find a way to survive and escape. The game emphasizes intimate storytelling through dialogue and choice-driven gameplay. Rather than branching paths, conversations use "micro-choices" where dialogue responses are heard but shape how other characters perceive the protagonist through five modifiable stats: Love (romantic feelings), Friend (friendship level), Desire (sexual tension), Trust (reliability), and Anxiety (stress levels). These stats alter subsequent conversations and unlock scene variations. The experience focuses on earning trust and understanding the perspectives of fellow survivors who have lives outside this crisis.
