With The Childhood Friend is a visual novel with life simulation elements set in a contemporary urban environment. You play as a withdrawn young man who has fallen into homelessness after family hardship and financial failure. By chance, you reconnect with Miyu, a childhood friend you haven't seen in years. She offers you a room in her apartment, providing both shelter and an opportunity to rebuild your life and relationship with her. The game centers on gradually building trust and intimacy with Miyu through daily interactions, choices, and resource management. You navigate an emotional connection system where decisions about how you spend your time, energy, and money affect four relationship meters: Trust, Love, Arousal, and Mood. The story unfolds across day-night cycles involving work, shopping, exploration of the apartment and city, and time spent together. Progression is deliberately paced, starting with trust-building before advancing to romantic and sexual content. The game features 12 animated scenes that unlock as your relationship deepens, integrated into the narrative rather than presented as separate events. Multiple endings are determined by your cumulative choices throughout the game.
