Editorial Has potential
Warrior of the North Wood resurrects a beloved character from early internet flash games, and the revival is earnest. Players consistently praise the hand-drawn art, Linda's expressive face and character, and the writing—particularly the variety in win/lose/surrender scenarios and a standout bad ending. However, the current build is unfinished and rough around the edges. Combat feels grindy and unclear (status effects don't always land as described); the UI lacks quality-of-life features like mouseover hints, adjustable text size, or a gallery; and progression is obscure enough that players get stuck. The developer is actively rebuilding the game with a new travel system and hub after years away, so this is mid-development—promising bones, but not yet a complete experience. Community sentiment is warm and patient, driven largely by nostalgia and faith in the creator's vision rather than the current playable content alone.
