Editorial Meh
Waifu by Myside: Patch Me In is a meta-textual adult visual novel inspired by MiSide, built around fourth-wall breaks and a self-aware AI heroine who increasingly asserts control over the narrative. Community reception splits sharply: supporters praise its ambitious thematic blend of digital corruption, psychological unease, and erotic content—treating these elements as integrated narrative tools rather than separate attractions—and commend the character work and animated CG quality. Critics, however, consistently cite poor machine-translated English that undermines comprehension and immersion, a disjointed plot that jumps between tones and settings without coherent logic, and minimal actual gameplay (mostly clicking through dialogue with shallow minigames). The game runs under two hours and offers little replay value; most agree it works best during steep sales. Opinion divides on whether the meta-horror framework and character designs justify the confused writing and thin mechanical substance, or whether they merely mask derivative ideas poorly executed.
