Editorial Has potential
The Monster I Mean to Be shows real promise as a transformation RPG with a relaxed, exploratory tone toward sexuality and gender. The core game loop and worldbuilding earn genuine enthusiasm from players who've engaged with it, and the dev is actively patching reported issues. However, the current build has a serious menu-navigation bug that can trap players in a loop between Help and Journal screens, forcing a restart—this is not cosmetic and undermines playability. Beyond the softlock, there are scattered quest-breaking bugs (Noble Sword won't drop after payment, image failures in the mirror scene) and unclear systems (no in-game explanation of stats like Elasticity, no obvious transformation path for new players). The AI-generated artwork also draws criticism for visual inconsistency between character descriptions and what's shown on screen. For its intended audience, the sexual content and character flexibility are well-received; the complaint about a "flat is justice" tag mislabeling petite bodies is a tagging issue, not a creative flaw. If you can tolerate an early-access experience and don't mind rough edges, there's a solid foundation here—but expect to hit bugs and confusion before the next patch.
