Editorial Don't bother
Night over Day is an early-stage visual novel from a solo developer that, by the developer's own admission, has now been canceled — the creator explicitly announced fatigue, creative confusion, and an inability to decide where the story was going. Even before that announcement, community feedback was already raising red flags: reviewers found the narrative incoherent, citing a confusing multi-protagonist structure, plot contradictions (a character who doesn't recognize someone she was just talking to on the phone), and a general sense that the story lacked direction. The little positive feedback that exists — "started strong" — suggests some early promise in the setup, but it was never developed far enough to deliver on it. As a build, the game reached v0.15 (Episode 1, Part 2) before going dark, making it decidedly unfinished. It is now abandoned, which is the most meaningful readiness verdict possible: there is no path forward for the content that was started. Community discussion was also cluttered with basic questions about the game's own focus — whether it features lesbian or heterosexual content — hinting that even the premise was unclear to players. For anyone looking for a complete or satisfying experience, this one cannot be recommended.
