Ascendant Delusion presents an intriguing premise with character-driven routes that players feel could mature into something special. The first dungeon shows creative promise, and the art has caught attention. However, the current build suffers from significant balance and design problems that undermine enjoyment: inventory management forces constant backtracking, mana recovery is unclear or absent, and critical boss fights (particularly the Hedgehog) are tuned impossibly hard relative to available resources. Most frustrating is the instant game-over when the protagonist falls despite a full team, which creates arbitrary failure states in winnable encounters. The game has bones worth developing, but needs substantial mechanical rebalancing and clearer resource systems before it's ready to play.
