Editorial Worth it
Gehenna is a niche JRPG that doubles as an adult game, and it commits fully to both roles—sometimes to its own detriment. The RPG core is functional but unremarkable: turn-based combat, large maps with minimal guidance, and a grind that can be skipped entirely via an in-game cheat room. The real draw is the H-content: dense, lengthy scenes across multiple routes with a character customization system (500+ appearance variations) that rivals anything in the genre. However, the game's fetish palette is *extremely* heavy and unusual—body modification, transformation, and surreal/horrific themes dominate—and will alienate anyone not deeply into extreme content. The story itself is surprisingly ambitious and lore-rich, rewarding players who piece together its fragmented narrative across dialogue, item descriptions, and H-scenes; some find it genuinely moving. Opinion divides sharply: those tolerant of or into the game's specific kinks call it a gem and exceptional value; others find the fetish selection off-putting or the map design tedious. A mandatory patch nearly 10× the base size adds the full H-content.
