Editorial Worth it
Violet Witch Trials is a polished RPGM game with a distinctive combat system and meticulous world design. The protagonist, Gentiana, is well-characterized, and the writing shows genuine care—dialogue and environmental storytelling are woven throughout the dungeon with character-appropriate detail. The distance-based combat and elemental puzzle-solving offer real mechanical freshness for the genre. The critical sticking point is the struggle/escape QTE minigame, which reviewers consistently describe as brutally difficult: an 8-input sequence squeezed into 3 seconds frustrates players of all skill levels, including those with dyslexia, and has prompted repeated calls for rebalancing or difficulty options. The developer has acknowledged this and committed to changes in the final release. Beyond that friction, players praise the art style (rough but earnest, improving noticeably), the variety of room solutions, and the novel fetish content. The game is complete as a demo but available primarily through Patreon; the build itself runs stably with only minor isolated bugs now resolved.
