Editorial Has potential
Shijima: Demon Hunters is a very early-build yuri-focused action-VN hybrid with a demon-hunter setting and visuals that earn consistent praise — reviewers highlight the art style as distinctly Asian-flavored and notably attractive, and the lesbian-centric storytelling is described as promising and unusually well-handled for the genre. The developer's decision to insert themselves into the narrative is flagged as a potential risk but lands naturally according to those who played it. Content-fit divides are real: some players dislike that certain lesbian scenes appear unskippable or mandatory, while others simply aren't the target audience for yuri content at all; the sandbox structure also draws skepticism from players who distrust the format on principle. These are taste-and-design-philosophy disputes rather than creative failures — for its intended audience, the early writing and visuals seem genuinely appealing. The build, however, is another story. A confirmed, reproducible save-system crash (a Ren'Py pickle error in version 0.0.1) means players cannot save progress, and multiple reviewers call this a dealbreaker. The release is also extremely early and thin on content, with several users saying they'll wait for more before engaging. Development pace is also a question mark. Until saving is fixed and more content arrives, playing now is not recommended.
