Editorial Meh
Serena of the Corrupted Mines is a competent adult RPG built in RPG Maker MZ with a narrative centered on a proud elf's corruption through submission—a premise that works thematically, though execution relies heavily on forced scenes and repetitive dialogue that can feel tedious after multiple playthroughs. The game's stat system feels hollow (stats are tracked but don't meaningfully drive player choice), and some players find the writing overwrought and the pacing frustrating, particularly when non-consensual scenes dominate progression. That said, players who connect with the corruption fantasy and don't mind linear storytelling report finishing and enjoying it. The build is in serious trouble. A significant portion of users report the executable won't launch at all, and while community workarounds exist (command-line flags, deleting cache folders, or opening the project directly in RPG Maker MZ), the fact that many users experience launch failure—including on the official DLsite demo—suggests a genuine technical regression. Earlier players had no issues; something has broken. Until the developer releases a proper fix, downloading is a gamble; prospective players should verify the current state before committing time.
