Description
A turn-based strategy game set during Japan's Sengoku period of warring states. You take control of one of ten major daimyo clans—including the Date, Hojo, Uesugi, Takeda, Oda, Tokugawa, Mori, Chosokabe, Otomo, and Shimazu families—and expand your territory across the nation's 23 provinces through diplomacy and military conquest. Each turn you can move only one army to one location, forcing careful decisions about which territory to attack and which generals to deploy.
Combat and territory control form the core gameplay: recruit from 38 historical generals, each with unique special abilities (like Shingen's Wind, Forest, Fire, Mountain tactics or Kenshin's God of War), build mounted cavalry units for aggressive assaults, and siege enemy castles. Defeated defenders retreat to neighboring provinces. However, warfare is only one path to victory—you can also conquer through diplomacy by recruiting neutral factions, turning enemy generals, and forging alliances with rival powers.
The game incorporates random 'Fate' events each turn that can dramatically shift the balance of power: bountiful harvests, gold discoveries, recruitment of famous masterless samurai, or catastrophes like plague, earthquakes, rebellions, and coups. Victory comes when you control over half the nation and force remaining daimyo to submit. Three difficulty levels scale from cautious AI to merciless aggression.
