Shizugatake

A tactical wargame simulating the Battle of Shizugatake (1583), a pivotal engagement during Japan's Sengoku period. Players command forces as either the Shibata or Toyotomi clan, with asymmetrical win conditions: Shibata must seize enemy positions before reinforcements arrive, while Toyotomi must hold ground until their forces reach the field. The game features 27 starting units with up to 45 total including reinforcements, fought across a 20×15 hex map over 12 turns, with each scenario lasting roughly 30 minutes. Loyalty mechanics add strategic depth—holding fortifications maintains unit allegiance, but losing them risks defection to enemy forces. Includes famous historical figures like Maeda Toshiie and the legendary Seven Spears of Shizugatake.
