Editorial Worth it
Lkyt. is a polished, narratively ambitious M/M tragic fantasy visual novel from Parade that delivers on its promise of emotionally devastating storytelling. The game centers on Tasuku, a young warrior thrust into a doomed world where every romantic route ends in loss, sacrifice, or death—a commitment the writing honors without compromise. The four love interests (Takeru, Yael, Ango, Towa) are well-characterized with distinct personalities and relationship dynamics, and the Japanese voice acting is exceptional. Visually, the game is striking: cold-toned CGs, expressive character sprites, and a haunting soundtrack that perfectly frames the tragedy. The sexual content is explicit and well-integrated, though some players note shame-coding around intimacy. The main creative weakness is pacing and scope: players consistently report that after the first route, heavy dialogue and scene reuse across subsequent paths creates fatigue, and the overall narrative feels rushed or underdeveloped compared to Parade's other titles. The world-building and political intrigue, while interesting, lack the depth hinted at in the premise. Some routes converge too much, and the epilogue adds little value. At $40 USD, the content volume—roughly 10 hours per route with diminishing returns—strikes many as expensive for what is ultimately a single tragic arc told four ways. That said, for players seeking a mature, polished BL tragedy that refuses easy comfort, and who don't mind replaying overlapping content, Lkyt. is genuinely worth the investment.
