Phoney

Phoney is a creative platform for making and playing interactive stories told through simulated phone interfaces. Rather than a traditional narrative game, it's a toolkit where writers craft branching stories using chat messages, fictional apps, and character interactions that unfold on a virtual smartphone screen. The platform consists of two main components: Phoney Studio is a free editor where creators write scripts, design conversations, and preview their stories in real-time on a virtual phone; Phoney Player is the free platform where audiences can experience finished stories by receiving messages, opening apps, and making choices that shape the narrative. The initial release includes example stories involving intimate connections formed through unexpected text exchanges and fictional social apps, with more stories and characters planned over time.
