Editorial Meh
Life in Santa County built a loyal following on the strength of its visuals — reviewers consistently praise the character art and call the women "on another level" — but the writing is a genuine sticking point. Multiple players describe the dialogue as stilted and oddly phrased, as though translated from another era, and at least one blunt post-mortem labels the story "primitive" despite conceding the game looks great. Content-wise, the game leans toward MILFs and married women, which some players welcomed and others found imbalanced; there is no NTR, though a subplot involving the MC's mother drew complaints from a subset of players. The Steam release introduced changes to the family-relationship framing and removed college segments, so players seeking the original version are actively hunting for workarounds. On the build side, the picture is grim. The developer has apparently gone silent, the project is widely considered abandoned, Season 2 content never reached Steam or itch.io, several promised characters never received their routes, and download links have been broken or quota-throttled for extended periods. A minigame was quietly removed mid-development, leaving dead code behind. The community is essentially in mourning mode at this point.
