Editorial Meh
Horse Magic is a futa-focused fantasy visual novel following a protagonist who gains a horse-sized magical endowment, built around hand-drawn art and animated scenes that players consistently single out as the game's standout strength. The art style, color palette, and scene quality earn genuine praise, and several reviewers went out of their way to commend the solo developer's work. That said, the creative execution draws real criticism: the choice system is widely called out as hollow — selections lead to the same scenes regardless of what you pick — and the pacing feels disjointed, with time skips that lack narrative context. Minor but immersion-breaking writing inconsistencies (mismatched size descriptions, a character name error) are also noted. The central content is unambiguously futa/futanari, and players expecting actual horse content from the title will be disappointed; that mismatch is worth knowing upfront. On the technical side, the Android build has been reported as broken (crashing before images load), and a missing manual save/load system frustrates mobile players in particular. The itch.io version lags behind releases on other platforms, causing confusion about which version is current. Community feedback is noisy with off-topic chatter, but the genuine signal points to a promising project held back by thin interactivity and platform inconsistencies.
