Editorial Has potential
Magic Academy is a hand-drawn adult RPG hybrid with genuine depth: a school-life adventure mode paired with tactical deck-building combat, set in an original wizarding world. The art and character writing are praised consistently, and players report substantial content—many still in act two after hours of play. However, the game struggles with rough execution: save-loading errors, softlocks on specific quests, Android build crashes (especially on older processors due to Live2D support withdrawal), and a cluttered UI that discourages exploration. Translation quality is uneven, with machine-translation artifacts and naming inconsistencies. The developers are responsive and actively fixing bugs, but the current build remains mid-development; older saves may not load properly, and some players hit hard stops in the main quest. For players willing to tolerate technical friction and work through the occasional guide-reading to progress, the creative core—rich art, solid character routes, meaningful gameplay loops—justifies the effort. For those seeking a polished experience, this is still a work in progress.
