Editorial Has potential
Hive City Heat is a stylish 2D beat-em-up in early development with genuinely appealing hand-drawn art and responsive combat fundamentals. The community is warm and engaged, praising the sprite work and character design—comparisons to Golden Axe and River City Ransom suggest the core loop resonates. However, the game is plainly unfinished: players consistently report slow character speed, enemy AI getting stuck off-screen (blocking progression), animation that needs more frames, and sparse content overall. The developer is actively communicating roadmap plans (new enemies, dash attacks, grab mechanics, multiple playable characters) but hasn't shipped enough yet for a full assessment of creative merit. For now, this is a promising foundation worth bookmarking, not yet ready to play seriously.
