Editorial Has potential
Exogon shows strong creative fundamentals—a well-paced opening act, likeable characters, and engaging storytelling that many players found genuinely compelling. The writing and character work earned consistent praise, and the world-building, while occasionally heavy-handed, holds together. However, the game is now indefinitely paused. In January 2025, the solo developer announced via Patreon that insufficient revenue and the demands of a first project prompted them to halt development and pivot to new games instead. The community response has been divided: some remain hopeful the creator will return someday, while others feel disappointed by the abrupt pivot and unresolved cliffhanger. On the technical side, the initial release suffered from aggressive kinetic text animations, excessive sound effects, and performance stuttering on Android—though a refined v0.15 addressed many of these complaints with better readability and audio balance. The game remains playable and largely stable in its current form, but players should know they are entering an unfinished work that may never continue.
