Editorial Worth it
Chasing Tail is a deep, character-driven visual novel with a richly written crime-drama story and ten fully fleshed-out romance routes. Players consistently praise the compelling cast, emotional depth, and genuine writing quality—one player called it "a piece of art." The game delivers on what it promises: complex relationship systems, branching paths with real consequences, and a strong sense of world-building. The build is essentially complete and stable. The dev has shifted focus to a sequel but continues patching bugs and adding small content (an 18th lewd scene was pending at review time). Minor complaints exist—occasional input bugs with dialogue skip, inconsistent sprite art style, a UI that could be more polished, and a save/load system that works but feels clunky—but none prevent play. The game lacks some quality-of-life features (rollback, true save-anywhere) that players want, and affection mechanics are opaque without guides, making some routes harder to achieve than others. Still, for a passion project that is genuinely finished and regularly maintained, this is solid. Worth playing for fans of furry VNs with real story meat.
