Editorial Worth it
Between Two Worlds is a well-crafted adult visual novel that succeeds most where it aims: as a character-driven story that blends tabletop RPG gameplay with modern-day relationships and fantasy adventure. The writing is consistently praised as above-average for the genre, with realistic, likable characters and meaningful choices that shape which romance routes open up. Sex scenes are well-integrated into narrative progression rather than feeling gratuitous. However, the game is fundamentally linear despite its choice system—you're selecting between predefined paths (good-aligned harem, evil-aligned harem, monogamous routes) rather than building your own story. Some players find the pacing slow in early chapters, the D&D sequences heavy-handed, and occasional sex scenes tonally mismatched to dramatic moments. The art is solid but not exceptional; animations are good, though some late-game scenes underwhelm visually. For its audience—readers who love TTRPGs, character work, and narrative-first adult content—it's a strong recommendation worth full price. If you want open-world freedom, constant explicit content, or have no interest in tabletop gaming, this isn't for you.
