Editorial Meh
Abyss Awakening is a rough-around-the-edges early-access game that shows promise but needs serious polish. A working save/load system is broken or inconsistent across builds—players report the "continue" feature failing after game-over, save files not loading, and difficulty figuring out where the save button is. The intro has been expanded with new content, but exploration can trigger unforgiving instant-death scenarios (like walking on mines) that boot you to the main menu with no recovery. On the creative side, reviewers are divided over the game's handling of the female protagonist: some want assurance that infidelity/NTR won't dominate her route or can be avoided entirely, while others argue that a multi-protagonist narrative naturally includes sexuality for all characters. These are genuine design questions about player agency and content scope, not flaws in execution—but the lack of clear dev communication on this front has left the community uncertain. The writing is acknowledged as perfunctory ("half-assed"), which players seem to accept for a porn game, and the AI art divides opinion but isn't a dealbreaker. Mobile support is incomplete—ZIP downloads instead of APK hurt Android usability. If you can tolerate instability and want to support an evolving project, there's something here; otherwise, wait for a more stable build.
