Editorial Worth it
Twists of My Life is a choice-driven visual novel about a law student navigating relationships and consequences across 17 different endings. The community is broadly positive about its branching narrative, character work, and replay value—players consistently praise the story depth and meaningful choice mechanics. However, technical and design friction points recur: repetitive, unskippable daily routines (showers, meals) slow pacing; the single piano score becomes grating over hours; sex scenes feature jarring strobing effects; and translation quality is uneven, with some dialogue feeling awkward. The 3D character models read as dated (early-2010s render quality), and animations are sparse and low-framerate. Most damaging to immersion is the grinding gameplay loop—some players found it frustrating rather than engaging. For its core audience (fans of VNs with romance and branching paths), the writing and character routes carry the experience; for others, the dated presentation and mechanical friction make it a harder sell despite being free.
