Trouble Days is a short, visually polished romantic visual novel centered on Lovelia, a pure-hearted succubus navigating cohabitation and genuine affection with an ordinary human protagonist. The game's greatest strength is its character work: Lovelia is expressive, endearing, and voiced throughout, animated with smooth live2D that conveys personality through subtle movements and reactions. The art is warm and inviting, and the narrative tone strikes a deliberate balance between light fanservice and sincere emotion—the game explicitly frames non-consensual encounters as the "bad" ending, positioning mutual, consensual intimacy as the true resolution. However, the experience is hampered by significant structural weaknesses. At 2–3 hours, it's extremely brief, and more problematically, player choices that ostensibly shape the story (washing dishes vs. folding laundry, entering a bookstore or not) have devastating but arbitrary consequences for the ending—a design that feels punitive rather than meaningful. The story itself is conventional and linear, lacking depth or complexity; the writing occasionally stumbles into awkward phrasing and grammatical errors in localization. The static CG content is minimal (only 3–4 per route, no animation), and the soundtrack is generic. Community opinion is sharply divided: many celebrate it as a sweet, wholesome romance worth the sale price; others criticize the brevity, thin plotting, and the disconnect between the game's aspirations (a genuine love story) and its execution (thinly sketched, low-budget storytelling). It lands best if approached as a short, mood-driven escape rather than a substantial narrative experience.
