Editorial Meh
This is My Story is an early-access fantasy RPG visual novel with ambitious scope but severe execution problems that make it frustrating to play. The core creative vision—a branching fantasy narrative with combat, exploration, and multiple love interests—is sound, and the developer shows earnest effort; however, the game suffers from pervasive mechanical and balance issues that overshadow any narrative merit. Combat is excessively grindy and unbalanced (enemies deal disproportionate damage; leveling up grants only marginal stat increases; random encounters are so frequent players report being attacked multiple times per screen); core gameplay systems are broken (inventory crashes on right-click, gathering crashes when durability expires, some quests cannot be completed); and the UI has persistent problems with the back and skip buttons. Story progression is almost entirely kinetic with minimal player agency, and several players found the pacing and character writing generic or frustrating. The love interests (Aria, Mira, and Leona) divide opinion, with some welcoming the harem premise and others finding it mandatory and narratively hollow. For players willing to tolerate a rough, mid-development build in hopes of future patches, there is enough mechanical scaffolding here to suggest potential; for everyone else, the game is currently unplayable without constant frustration.
