Editorial Has potential
Commanding a Harem is a harem management game with branching character routes and stat-based progression. The writing and character work draw genuine affection from players—particularly for protagonists Ayane and Eula—and the core loop of recruitment, relationship-building, and intimate scenes lands solidly for its audience. However, the game is severely hampered by a chaotic development state: the creator suffered a hard drive failure and is now remaking the project on Patreon, leaving the public version effectively abandoned mid-development. The current build is riddled with game-breaking bugs (missing text boxes in Chapter 3, softlocks during character scenes, broken saves on version updates, UI alignment failures requiring manual patches), incomplete content (locked quests, placeholder scenes, missing second halves of missions), and a grindy early game that frustrates rather than engages. Community sentiment is split between those invested in the characters and story (and hopeful for the remake) and those exhausted by the bugs and time-sinks. The game has merit as a creative work, but the build is unstable enough that many players cannot reliably progress.
