Editorial Has potential
The First Gods presents an ambitious strategy-management sim with genuinely interesting mechanics—stat progression, quest design, and tribal diplomacy that rewards player choice. However, the game is hampered by significant bugs that actively prevent core systems from functioning. Multiple reviewers report quest-breaking errors (the "Moving Hill" quest throws parsing errors on skill checks; character death leaves positions permanently "unknown"; raid targets become unfindable or unreachable), and UI clarity issues compound the problem—the "Raid" and "Hostile" tabs are buried and counter-intuitive, leading players to fail quests through confusion rather than choice. The creative foundation is solid and the gameplay loop can engage for 60+ turns, but in its current state, frustration from broken quests and opaque systems will overshadow what could be a worthwhile experience.
