Editorial Has potential
Shady Deals is a mechanically deep crime-sim sandbox with plenty of grind content to sink time into—solid writing, a functioning gang-management layer, and enough activities (theft, sex work, burglary, combat, crew management) to sustain extended play. However, the current build (v0.25.0) carries a pattern of bugs that impede progress: pool-table refresh failures, trait-leveling soft-locks where progress bars exceed 100% without unlocking, coin-reward failures on gigs, and scattered crashes when visiting certain locations. The game is playable for patient players willing to work around these issues or restart, but multiple systems are visibly broken enough to derail a run. The UI and tutorial are thin—new players struggle with underdocumented mechanics (character roles, dirty-money logic, car-theft minigame rules)—and the early grind is steep until safe-cracking unlocks. For its audience, the bones are worth exploring; the build needs another polish pass.
