Shards of Mirrors is a tactical RPG with romance elements that shows genuine creative ambition—a mix of strategy combat, NPC relationship-building, and resource management set in a lived-in world. The developer is visibly responsive to feedback, and players appreciate the erotic content and breadth of interaction options with characters like Roxy. However, the current build suffers from significant design and balance problems that undermine the experience: the tutorial battle is widely reported as brutally difficult (a wolf with 50 HP taking 10 arrows and barely flinching), early-game quests become repetitive fetch-work before players understand the game's actual direction, and critical guidance is missing—players get stuck hunting for salt or stones with no hint where to look. Many player-facing interactions (flirting, board games, fishing) trigger no feedback or stat changes, leaving the relationship system feeling unresponsive. Mobile support is broken, cutting off UI elements. These are teachable problems, not fundamental design flaws, but they make the early hours frustrating rather than inviting.
