Editorial Meh
Self Defense Dojo is a grindy collection-sim with mini-games, light NTR content, and a deliberately slow pace that wears thin fast. The pixel art and character design earn consistent praise, and players appreciate the humor and variety of activities—fishing, mining, construction work, and story events unlock gradually. However, the game's design actively fights engagement: unskippable animations for waking up and map transitions, no fast-forward on text, and time-skipping that costs hours of repetitive viewing. Several critical bugs prevent key scenes from triggering (Yui's store scene, Aoi's tent scene) even in the current build, though a DLC folder workaround exists. Opinion divides sharply: some found it a fun evening diversion; many more exhausted themselves grinding toward completion and found the tedium unbearable. The sexual content is described as weak and predictable. This is a completed mobile port, stable enough when it works, but the design philosophy prioritizes padding over player respect.
