Editorial Has potential
Secrets of the Family is a sandbox-style adult visual novel centered on mother-daughter relationships with branching quest lines for multiple characters. The creative work has genuine appeal for its audience: players consistently praise the story, character dynamics, and the intimate content itself, with particular enthusiasm for the mother-daughter focus. However, the game suffers from severe structural problems that dominate the current experience. The build is riddled with bugs—infinite loops, crash-on-load errors, broken quest triggers, character dialogue swaps, missing images, and progression softlocks—making it unplayable for many players even mid-game. Many report grinding for weeks on trivial actions, hitting invisible walls where NPCs won't respond despite appearing "available," or restarting repeatedly because a single early choice breaks later content. The developer has shown recent signs of active work (patreon posts within the last weeks) and has acknowledged these issues, but the version available here lags behind—players report the Patreon build is much stabler. For the quality of the creative vision, this deserves respect; for the actual state of play right now, it is broken.
