Editorial Has potential
Secrets Between Lines is a character-driven narrative adventure with a strong cast and relationship focus that resonates with players who value story over spectacle. The writing and character interactions earn genuine praise, and the developer shows impressive commitment to meaningful branching—each love interest gets distinct scenes tied to player choices, and relationship routes feel purposefully different rather than copy-pasted. However, the game stumbles on plot coherence: the mafia subplot feels unearned and tonally jarring (a taxi ride grants mob-table respect?), and the VR-glasses framing device strikes many as contrived sci-fi nonsense that undercuts the intimate character work. Community opinion divides on body variety and content scope—some want more visual diversity in character design, and the explicit no-harem stance, while appreciated by some, disappoints others. The current build has a notable bug: players report getting stuck after texting Diego early on, unable to progress; this affects multiple users and needs addressing before the next chapter.
