Editorial Meh
Princess in the Tower is built on a genuinely appealing concept and visual design, but has been crippled by severe execution problems and developer abandonment. The core appeal—a slow-burn corruption narrative with actual RPG mechanics instead of clickthrough visual novels—attracted players who value substance over speed. However, the realization is marred by excessive grind, confusing systems complexity, and a notorious history of remakes and incomplete reworks that have left the game perpetually unfinished. Most critically, the developer has been absent for months despite receiving steady Patreon income, with the Discord dead and no meaningful communication; while not officially abandoned, the project appears stalled indefinitely. The game is also technically fragile—multiple reports of softlocks and save-file issues plague the current build, particularly on mobile. For those patient enough to tolerate slow pacing, this might still offer something unique, but the combination of ongoing technical problems and developer silence makes it a risky investment.
