Origin Story - Season 1

Editorial Worth it

Origin Story - Season 1 is a superhero-themed adult VN that lands squarely in the "fun, well-made, knows what it is" camp. The writing is sharp and frequently witty; the cast is likeable and diverse; the worldbuilding treats powers as genuinely consequential rather than mere window dressing; and relationships are given time to breathe before sex scenes, making those scenes land harder. The 7,500+ renders are polished, and sex scenes offer real variety—multiple positions and finishes per scene, with toggleable content (lesbian, anal) for player preference. Season 1 is substantial (15+ hours, 8 chapters) and a genuine creative success for its audience. The main weakness is structural: the story is fundamentally linear despite choice-framing, and meaningful decision-consequence arcs are rare. Some heroines get far more intimate content than others, leaving certain routes feeling underdeveloped this season—a deliberate choice that will likely resolve in Season 2. A small minority of players find the pacing slow and dialogue verbose, but the overwhelming consensus is enthusiastic. This is a well-executed harem superhero VN with genuinely engaging writing; it excels at what it set out to do.
