Editorial Worth it
NinNinDays 2 delivers polished romantic visual novel comfort food with vibrant anime art, expressive character animation, and competent voice acting—exactly what fans of the first game expect. The story unfolds as a slice-of-life romance between the protagonist and two charming kunoichi (Suzuran and Kikyō), set in modern Akihabara with light humor and gradual emotional progression. Visually, the game impresses: character designs pop, the E-mote animation system breathes life into dialogue scenes, and CG illustrations are notably more animated than the original. The formula works: short playthroughs (3–5 hours per route), multiple endings, and branching choices encourage replayability. However, community opinion splits on execution. Some players praise the sequel's tighter pacing and increased visual polish; others feel it sacrifices character development for fanservice and plot speed. Common criticisms include rushed relationship-building (contrast to the first game's slower, more grounded pacing), forced cameos from the original cast, and—most pointedly—the polyamory ending feeling truncated and unsatisfying. The English localization has occasional rough patches and typos. The R18 patch, which adds explicit scenes, is free but required for full content (and reportedly became hard to download for some users post-release). On the technical side, some report performance stutters on lower-end hardware despite the 2D-VN simplicity, and fullscreen mode has an odd bug that disables Alt-Tab. Despite these issues, most players who go in expecting a short, visually pleasant romantic romp rather than deep narrative find it charming and worth the sale price.
