My Dates and Dungeons is a gay furry dungeon-crawler with card-game and party-building mechanics, drawing clear inspiration from Suikoden. The art style and character roster have genuine appeal within its niche, and the early game shows promise with accessible progression and recruitable party members. However, the game's core loop becomes severely grindy after the first dungeon: players report needing hours of token grinding to swap party members or level alternate characters, and the mid-to-late-game content lacks the writing and romantic/sexual payoff that should justify the time investment. Character routes are sparse (roughly 1,000 words per character), and several patreon-exclusive characters have no scenes at all—only static CGs. Recent updates have fixed critical bugs (quest locks, invisible character glitches, stat duplication), and the game is now stable enough to finish. But grinding tedium, shallow romantic content, and recycled mechanical systems (borrowed from Pokémon natures without much creative spin) leave players feeling the core game doesn't earn its demands on their time.
