Editorial Has potential
Meru Night is a Meru-character adult game that has generated genuine enthusiasm from fans of the source material, but it struggles with significant technical and design problems that undermine the experience. The lockpicking mechanic is the most consistent complaint—it doesn't work reliably on mobile (where many players are trying to access it), trapping players early in the game; the developer has acknowledged the issue and promised fixes, but the problem persists across multiple updates. Beyond that, players report sequence-breaking bugs (getting stuck in repeating dialogue, becoming unable to move, clipping out of bounds), unclear UI (especially on touchscreen), and a save system that doesn't preserve scenes. The writing draws criticism as "pretty trash," though the visual content is appreciated. Development has been slow and episodic, with long gaps between updates. For players willing to tolerate a rough, unfinished build in exchange for Meru content and occasional glimpses of promise, there is something here—but the current state demands patience and workarounds.
