Lust Trip is a kinetic novel with gorgeous renders and a straightforward premise: a road trip with a woman who's made poor life choices, and the weak-willed protagonist who enables them. The artwork is genuinely strong, and some players find the story and characters endearing enough to want more. However, critical consensus zeroes in on a central flaw: the female lead is written as manipulative, impulsive, and emotionally volatile—ghosting the MC because her boyfriend demanded it, giving him the silent treatment, flying into rages—while the MC consistently capitulates, apologizes for her behavior, and funds her entire trip despite her abandonment of him. Many players see this dynamic as poorly thought-out rather than intentionally complex; they wanted an MC with agency and consequences that actually branch, not a predetermined path where passivity is rewarded. The game also delivers almost no meaningful choices despite being tagged as offering them. As a kinetic novel with limited replay value, it's a one-route story, which some expected the developer to move past after two years and a previous title. The visuals carry it, but the narrative and character writing don't land for players seeking either compelling dynamics or player agency.
