Editorial Has potential
Lust from Beyond is a Lovecraftian horror game that wears its erotic content as integral to its narrative rather than window dressing—a choice that mostly works, though opinion on execution divides sharply. The story, atmosphere, and creature design earn genuine praise; players consistently highlight the unsettling mood, solid voice acting, and the way the game refuses to separate horror from sexuality. However, the actual gameplay is the weak point. Puzzles are often trivial, sneaking sections dominate tediously (many resent the "running simulator" pacing), and combat is clunky and punishing. Technical problems persist: long loading screens, camera spinning issues on some systems, occasional soft-locks, and poor UI guidance that leaves players lost without a guide. The final chapters shift away from eroticism toward action and spectacle in ways some felt undermined the game's original identity. For players willing to tolerate mediocre mechanics in service of atmosphere and story—especially those drawn to transgressive, grotesque Lovecraftian erotica—it rewards patience. For everyone else, it's a slog.
