Editorial Meh
Lust for Darkness VR is a Lovecraftian horror walking simulator that trades polish for immersion. The core appeal—exploring an erotic, eldritch mansion in first-person VR—works well enough for its niche audience; players consistently praise the atmospheric set design, creature art in the alternate dimension, and the novelty of adult-oriented narrative horror in VR. However, the creative execution is uneven: dialogue and protagonist voice acting draw complaints, puzzle design is simplistic, and the story, while conceptually interesting, feels underdeveloped. More damaging is the build itself. A significant portion of Quest users report hard-blocking controller detection issues (stuck in floor on main menu, controllers invisible) that persist despite being known for over a year; workarounds exist (Steam Input override for some, Virtual Desktop for others) but are unreliable across headsets. Those who get past the menu often encounter janky object interaction, occasional softlocks, and graphical cuts compared to the flat version. At $10–20 on sale, players who manage to run it without technical barriers generally find 2–3 hours of acceptable atmosphere worth the price; those who hit controller bugs face a refund. The game is playable for many but unreliable enough that Quest 3 / Quest 2 buyers should check the support forum first.
