Editorial Has potential
Like an Angel is a visually striking BL visual novel with beautiful character art and CG work that consistently impresses players. The game offers three distinct romance routes with varied emotional payoffs, and many appreciate the uncensored content and the core narrative concept—a young demon's coming-of-age trial in the human world. However, the experience is significantly hampered by a rough English translation riddled with grammatical errors and awkward phrasing that undermines story immersion and makes it difficult to understand mechanics and event triggers. The translation issues are compounded by repetitive gameplay loops, obtuse stat requirements for good endings (poorly explained in English), and the inclusion of non-consensual scenes early on that some players find gratuitous rather than thematically justified. Chinese-language players report better immersion with full voice acting and clearer localization, while English speakers must either struggle through confusing dialogue, resort to external guides and machine translation, or abandon the game entirely. The game rewards patience and multiple playthroughs if you're willing to hunt down hidden event triggers and decipher unclear mechanics, but the barrier to entry for English speakers is substantial.
