Editorial Worth it
Last Sunset is a college-drama visual novel with a melancholic premise: the MC grieves a girlfriend who died in a motorcycle accident and navigates relationships with a cast of love interests while processing trauma. Community response is broadly positive on the creative work—players praise the story, character writing, and the MC's agency (notably, he's competent and not a helpless edgelord), and the rework of Episode 1 fixed notable technical issues like awkward poses. However, the game divides players sharply on two design choices: a blackmail-and-sex-tape subplot involving one LI that many find tired and character-poisoning, and heavy use of minigames and sandbox/free-roam segments that interrupt narrative flow (though the developer has added a skip option). A few note minor issues—some characters have similar appearances, occasional grammar glitches—but these don't dominate feedback. The newest updates show the dev is listening and iterating; Episode 2 is in early development with promises of larger scope and meaningful branching. If you enjoy character-driven VNs with atmospheric writing and don't mind some genre clichés, this is worth your time; if you're allergic to sex-tape drama or slow-paced roaming sections, proceed with caution.
