Jerez's Arena II is a turn-based SLG set in a Western fantasy world, following a spy posing as a slave trader who trains two female fighters — a ninja and a noble's daughter — for gladiatorial combat. The community broadly agrees that the CG art is solid, the character designs are attractive, and the addition of full Japanese voice acting throughout (an upgrade over the first game's limited audio) is genuinely appreciated. The mix of resource management, skill-based combat, and adult scenes finds its audience, and multiple endings tied to arena performance give some replay value. That said, opinion on the sequel versus its predecessor is consistently split in the first game's favor. Critics point to a simplified and less satisfying management loop, a combat system that feels more stat-grindy and less elegant, the removal of the rest room mechanic making resource juggling more frustrating, and a protagonist whose moral characterization feels incoherent compared to the first game's more defined antihero.
