Editorial Meh
Island of Desire is caught between versions, and the community is deeply divided on the creative direction. The recent rework substantially redesigned the character models and art style—most notably increasing breast size and altering facial features—which has polarized players: some appreciate the new proportions and added NPCs, but a vocal majority prefer the older versions' character designs, particularly Sabrina, Nyra, and Kalani, whom they feel looked more distinctive and attractive before the overhaul. The developer has made old versions available on Discord, which has softened some frustration, but the fundamental shift away from the previous aesthetic remains controversial. Beyond aesthetics, the current build has concrete technical problems: the 1.4GB download contains only ~5 minutes of playable content with numerous renders missing from previews, animations that desynchronize from dialogue, and players report having to restart between releases. The game shows creative ambition and solid fundamentals in writing and animation, but the execution is uneven and the rebuild has left it feeling incomplete.
