Editorial Has potential
High School Days is a visual novel with appealing artwork and character-driven storytelling that players appreciate—when it works. The core creative premise (dating sim with branching character routes) is solid and delivers on romantic and sexual content that satisfies its audience. However, the game is undermined by a chronic pattern of buggy updates: nearly every release introduces quest-blocking bugs (broken event triggers, stuck quest flags, progression gates that won't unlock) that require multiple hotfixes to resolve. This isn't occasional polish needed—reviewers across multiple versions report being soft-locked in unfinishable states (unable to progress Felicia's, Lillian's, or other story lines despite meeting all stated requirements), forcing replays or abandoned saves. The developers acknowledge the issue and are attempting more careful testing, but the pattern persists. For patient players willing to download hotfixes and troubleshoot, the game offers engaging content; for those expecting stability, it's frustrating.
